Participation Rules

How do I participate?

For each book you read between August 1, 2025 and December 5, 2025 complete a challenge submission form. If the book you submit was completed outside of that time frame, the submission will not count as an entry for prizes or towards the total count of books read. Remember that the goal of the challenge is for the SUNY Canton community to collectively read 75 books!

What counts as a "book"?

Something that tells a story, either fiction or nonfiction. Formats include:
  • "traditional" physical books - printed hard or softcover
  • e-books
  • audiobooks
  • fanfiction
  • graphic novels and comic books
  • poetry
  • short stories

What counts as reading?

Any way in which you are engaging with paper/print, digital, or audio that meets the definition of a book as outlined in the previous question.

How do I win prizes?

Completing at least one submission form enters you to win prizes. Each participant receives only one entry for the duration of the challenge. Each participant may only win one prize. Prize winners will be contacted via email.

All prizes must be claimed by Friday, December 12.

If you live outside of St. Lawrence County, we will ship your prize to you. In this case, please claim your prize by responding to the email informing you that you have won. Include your shipping address.

Other guidelines

  • Do not submit books that are required reading for one of your courses.
  • You do not need to participate in any of the Reading Challenge events, but we hope that you do!
  • You do not need to read books accessed through Southworth Library.,
  • You do not need to sign up for StoryGraph to participate.
  • You do not need to use the reading prompts provided.
